Frequently Asked Questions¶
Getting started¶
What do I need to start a protocol?¶
Between one and 20 supporting documents in PDF, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, CSV, TXT, or MD format, up to 50 MB each. See Start a New Protocol.
Can I create a protocol without documents?¶
No. The New Protocol wizard starts from your documents, and you need at least one.
Can I upload an existing protocol document?¶
Not yet. Upload existing protocol is visible but not available. Start a new protocol from your supporting documents instead.
Extraction and details¶
What does TrialMind fill in?¶
TrialMind is designed to propose values that your documents support: protocol identifier, short title, sponsor or program, phase, therapeutic area, and indication. Information the documents do not state is left blank. Extraction may be incomplete or inaccurate, so check every value against your documents.
Is the extracted information correct?¶
Not necessarily. Check each value against your source documents before you rely on it. See Extraction and Review.
What happens if extraction fails?¶
You can normally continue and enter the details yourself, or go back and continue again to retry. Creating the protocol still requires the draft to be saved successfully.
Which fields are required?¶
Only the short title.
Do my corrections survive?¶
Yes. TrialMind saves your corrections when you continue and keeps them separate from the extracted values. Extraction results that arrive later do not overwrite them.
Teams¶
Can I add colleagues when I create a protocol?¶
Not yet. The Team step lists only you, as owner.
Source Files¶
What is the difference between the 20-document limit and the 50-file limit?¶
The 20-document limit applies when you create a protocol. After creation, a protocol can hold up to 50 files, counting the original documents, plus up to 200 notes. See Supported Files and Limits.
Does adding a file update the protocol's details?¶
No. A file added in Source Files does not start a new extraction. It is stored and can be used as AI context.
Why can I not remove a document?¶
Documents uploaded when the protocol was created cannot be removed through the current Source Files interface. Turn off Use for AI to exclude one from AI context, or rename it. See Manage Source Files.
What does Use for AI do?¶
It controls whether TrialMind includes a file or note in the AI context it uses for this protocol. Turning it off does not delete the file, and it does not undo values that were already extracted from it or edits you saved. It only changes what is included from then on.
Does Rename change my file?¶
No. It changes the name shown in Source Files. Downloading returns the original file.
Can I replace a file with a new version?¶
Not yet. Add the new version as a new file, and turn off Use for AI for the old one if it should no longer be used.
Why can I not preview a Word, PowerPoint, or Excel file?¶
Only PDFs and text-based files (notes, TXT, MD, CSV) are previewed. Download the original to open the others.
Other tools¶
Why are some pages marked Not connected?¶
TrialMind shows its planned tools in the navigation before they are ready. A page marked Not connected is not available yet, and it shows no data about your protocol. See Feature Availability.
When will Precedents be available?¶
Precedents is in development. This guide is updated when it is released.
Problems¶
I see "Sign-in required" or "Access denied". What do I do?¶
See Troubleshooting.
